Seeing Who We Are Not

We will not be able to find out who we are as long as continue believing that we are the person whose key reference point is that energy that hopes, fears, and desires. We can see these energies without the need to possess them. They are just passing experiences, but unlike other experiences, they have a history or continuity. For example, we might have the thought “I’d like to be rich.” and we might believe that we’ve always had that thought. But is that true. Do you ALWAYS have that thought? Or is it more precise to say that that thought emerges into consciousness now and then. When seen this way, the thought “I’d like to be rich” is really no different from any other experience that happens “now and then.” Beneath all thoughts, emotions, feelings, and experiences is a you unattached to any of them … unchanged … alert … there.
